Epic Engineering’s Structural Engineering team performed a roof analysis for the Mark Miller Subaru building, located at 3535 South State Street in Salt Lake City. The project was unique because the roof
consisted of four different types of framing due to the building having undergone several expansions/ remodels. The different types of roofs included steel joist and decking with TPO membrane, wood framing with TPO membrane, a prefabricated metal building with standing seam metal roofing, and a wood framed roof.
Once our team completed the rooftop analysis, we designed support structures for a solar array to be installed that was supported by each differing rooftop. On some rooftops, this required custom framework to support the panels and attachments through the membrane onto the existing wood framing.
